A haven for foodies and oenophiles alike, this venue is ideal for wining and dining on a budget. Along with a selection of sherries, ports and digestifs, the bar boasts a wine list that includes up to 300 labels. The titular drink can be ordered by the glass (three or six ounces, from $4) or by the bottle; if you’re feeling peckish, grapes are paired with appropriate grub on the tapas-style menu. The latter changes daily, but favourites include yukon gold fries ($5) and entrecôte of beef ($14). Despite the gourmand offerings, the dress code is anything goes, and the decor—exposed brick and wood floors—is simple and unassuming. If you’re after a table, arrive early or be prepared to wait; the bar doesn’t take reservations in the evenings. Thoughtful, professional service. Kitchen closes at 11 p.m.
