Imperial Pub and Library

This downtown spot embodies the hoary old cliché “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” Around the first-floor Aquarium bar, the clientele consists largely of tourists, and regulars who seem to have been sitting there for centuries; upstairs at the Library bar, students and motley intellectuals gather at ancient wooden tables. In summertime, the Imperial opens its charming rooftop patio; year-round, it draws people in with cheap drinks and an amazing jukebox, too—the entire selection is made up of the owner’s personal collection of jazz 45s.
