The perfect hybrid of slightly upscale local pub and classy piano bar, Gate 403 is also a good place for live music, usually jazz or blues, performed by a revolving cast of mainly local talents. Note the beautiful tin-tiled ceiling. Sadly, the old grand piano finally died (“With two bands a night, it got hammered pretty good,” says a staffer), and a newer one has taken its place.
