Fat Cat Wine Bar

  • 331 Roncesvalles Ave. (at Grenadier Rd.) View on map »
  • 416-535-4064
A classy addition to Roncesvalles’ pub-and-pierogi strip, Fat Cat builds on the success of chef Mathew Sutherland’s uptown bistro of the same name. The interior is chic and subdued; neutral walls are decorated with black and white photos of the neighbourhood. Choose a cozy candlelit table or grab a seat at the bar; a high table by the front window is ideal for larger groups. The extensive wine list spans all the important regions. Once a month the bar hosts wine-tasting nights. Wine is sold in three- or six-ounce servings and by the half-litre or bottle; markups aren’t too scary. The menu features mini-portions ($6–$13), perfect for sharing tapas style. Recent selections have included oysters, shrimp baked in piri-piri garlic butter sauce, and mini–yukon gold potatoes baked with raclette, caramelized onions and smoked bacon. The menu and wine list change weekly; a patio out back seats 40. Knowledgeable, helpful service. Closes at midnight Tuesday to Sunday.
