Bier Markt Esplanade

A victim of its own success, this Belgian brasserie and beer hall gets so crowded on Friday nights that it’s hard to find a table. There are more than 100 beers from 24 countries on offer, but connoisseurs may be disappointed. Apart from Belgian Trappist selections, exotic microbrews are scarce and not always in stock. The kitchen fares better. Traditional Belgian frites ($5), juicy moules, and Thursday’s special, the beer-braised short rib ($27), are scrumptious with or without beer. Closes at 1 a.m. Monday to Wednesday; midnight on Sunday.
