When it opened in 1903, the regal King Edward was the city’s first fireproof hotel. It’s a good thing, too, because the delicious martinis here are practically ignitable. Comfortable wing chairs and huge windows onto King Street provide a luxurious perch from which to watch the world race by. The Old World style—liveried doormen and classic polished wood bar—is enticing.
