The sign out front says “Ted’s Collision and Body Repair,” but for the more than seven years since Ted Footman—he of Ted’s Wrecking Yard—sold the business, this College Street institution has been simply called Collision. The name is among the only things to change in the past decade; the yard sale furniture, church pew–style benches, and single pool table (at a dollar a game, a throwback in its own right) remain as they’ve been since the bar was established in 1995. Open 363 days a year, the candlelit watering hole caters to a steady crowd of regulars looking for a tasty pint (eight beers on tap, $5.50–$6.50), a cold shot of Jägermeister and some good old-fashioned rock ’n’ roll. Collision has neither shooter specials nor hipster DJs; as one of Toronto’s most unpretentious bars, it doesn’t need them.
