It seems the further east you venture, the better your chances of finding a legitimately low-key lounge. (Unlike most lounges on King West, which are about as laid-back as rush hour on the autobahn.) Chinchilla, which adjoins the restaurant Lolita’s Lust, is such a find. Hidden amid the Danforth’s white and blue carnival of ouzo-slinging tavernas, it’s a glamorous gem. No wonder it’s a hit with Hollywood celebrities; the place has welcomed its fair share of wrap parties, hosted a fête for the Coppolas, and mixed drinks for the likes of Jennifer Connolly, Iggy Pop and Samuel L. Jackson. Try the tasty pomegranate mojito ($9)—made with fresh mint leaves, it goes down with dangerous ease.
