The Charlotte Room

Though billed as one of North America’s top pool venues by Billiards Digest in 1998, the Charlotte Room is something of a Toronto secret. Pool sharks appreciate the billiard league, game-refining lessons and seven tournament-quality tables. During the week, the crowd also includes graphic designers from the fashion district and dot-com survivors from Peter Street; on weekends, clubbers stop by for cocktails en route to King West. The decor is upscale, so if you like wings with your game of eight ball, you’ll be disappointed: this place is too posh for greasy grub. The beer selection is cultivated, too; summertime picks include Blanche de Chambly. Martinis are the cocktail of choice.
