Nestled below street level, this cozy pub is divided into two rooms. Beer is the house act—the 35-plus indie brews on offer include Black Oak, Steam Whistle and five house quaffs. The food keeps time with garlicky dips, spicy curries and a celebrated lamb burger, all of it greasy in a good way. An artichoke dip ($8) spreads nicely over warm pita. When it comes to mains, Le Grand Shepherd ($10)—a hefty serving of shepherd’s pie topped with molten marble cheddar—is hibernation food at its finest.
