Following an elaborate renovation, the subterranean bar at Centro resembles a slick, contemporary men’s club. Decorated in grey slate and earth tones, it’s enlivened by the odd playful touch (graffiti-style doodles etched into opaque glass panels). The sophisticated new decor matches the crowd. Gone are the smooth-talking pickup artists of yore; now 30-somethings mingle with Freedom 55ers and everyone grooves to the rhythm of the Michael Dunston Band. Posh bar snacks (available Wednesday through Saturday) include dim sum and sushi; full meals can also be ordered. The wine list is extensive, as is the selection of $14 martinis.
