Though this spot occasionally offers classic Canadian scenes—a TV blaring hockey, cheers erupting with each goal—the beer at Castro’s is more sophisticated. The fridge brims with more than 100 fancies from every corner of the globe, and 12 beers are available on tap, including German brew Hacker-Pschorr Weisse. Diehard Canucks are welcome, of course, but only if they’re willing to experiment. “We serve mainly micros and imports,” says owner Asim Ozses. “If you want a Blue, then go somewhere else.” Weekly events include open mike Tuesday, and DJs on Friday and Saturday.
