A neighbourhood watering hole for almost a century, the Cameron has been the site of many a cultural scene—most notoriously a social hub for the loopy VideoCabaret theatre troupe. Today it’s a tad quieter. A laid-back clientele of waifish bohemians rests on blue velvet sofas, discussing the beleaguered state of alternative theatre. Bands play the back room; DJs spin from the small stage in the front. One of the front room’s fixtures is a sign behind the bar that proclaims This Is Paradise.
