One of the city’s very first martini bars, this Church Street stalwart still reigns. The martini menu—showcasing more than 100 offerings—is headed by a paraphrased version of a famous Dorothy Parker quote (“Two and I’m under the table, three and I’m under the host!”), but drunken shenanigans are unlikely, given the sophisticated clientele. The chic lounge—a long, cool room done up in shades of green and brown—is a respite from the strip’s hubbub. A mixed crowd descends after 11 p.m. on weekends, when the space is transformed into a club.
