Brix Napa Valley Grille & Wine Bar

Torontonians from far and wide make the trek north to Thornhill for Brix, an unlikely oasis where the wine flows like water. Brix is a term commonly used by vintners to refer to the sugar content of grapes, and this wine bar certainly caters to oenophiles. Aficionados have their pick of 85 bottles from the basic wine list ($22–$95) and another 30 from the premium list ($95–$300). The setting is as classy as the grapes. Built around a central hearth, private booths are ideal for sharing meals (the menu suggests wine matches) or late-night snacks (such as seared Angus beef salad). On Mondays, the corkage fee is $1.
