The Blue Moon Pub
- 725 Queen St. E. (at Broadview) • View on map »
- 416-463-8868
The name is appropriate, since a good bar on this hit-and-miss strip of Queen East is a rarity. Don’t expect a sleek hangout for beautiful people: the cavernous space resembles a school gym, and the afternoon crowd is full of men who mutter into their beers. But at night, pool tables (free on Wednesdays and Sundays) get a workout, and foosball games are fierce. In the colourful main bar, hip locals relax to all varieties of music; in the back, they slouch on shabby-chic couches and watch the newly expanded stage, which hosts live bands, as well as open-mike night on Thursdays. There are 12 beers on tap, including Creemore Springs and Amsterdam Blonde, and a seasonal brew from Mill Street.
- Closes at 2 a.m. Monday to Sunday
- Kitchen open past midnight on weekends
