The Blue Moon Pub

  • 725 Queen St. E. (at Broadview) View on map »
  • 416-463-8868
The name is appropriate, since a good bar on this hit-and-miss strip of Queen East is a rarity. Don’t expect a sleek hangout for beautiful people: the cavernous space resembles a school gym, and the afternoon crowd is full of men who mutter into their beers. But at night, the DJs come out, pool tables get a workout and foosball games get fierce. In the colourful main bar, hip locals relax to the sounds of house music; in the back, they slouch on shabby-chic couches and watch the stage, which features open-mike Thursday, as well as bands. There are 12 beers on tap, including Wellington and Buzz lager and a seasonal brew from Mill Street. Closes at 2 a.m. Sunday to Wednesday.
