This welcoming west Rouge pub is Sunday-lunch-with-Gran territory. Two bright rooms—one a lounge, the other a restaurant—feature gas fireplaces and Scottish decor (dark wood furniture, red tartan carpets). The friendly staff pulls a wide assortment of pints: 16 beers on tap include five house brews (Dog, Dog Lite, Dog Red, Organic Dog and Dog Hemp, $5.25 each), plus ale and lager from Scotland, Ireland, England and other European countries. Some 17 single malt scotches range from McClelland’s 10-year Islay ($4.50) to Glenmorangie’s Port Cask Northern Highland ($7.75). On the entertainment front, assume live jazz on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. As for lunch, expect the likes of Guinness steak-and-kidney pie or Cajun linguine. A separate menu of healthier choices is available.
