The Black Dog

This welcoming West Rouge pub is Sunday-lunch-with-Gran territory. Two bright rooms feature gas fireplaces and Scottish decor (dark wood furniture, red tartan carpets). The friendly staff pulls a wide assortment of pints: 19 beers on tap include three house brews ($6 each), plus ale and lager from Scotland, Ireland, England and other European countries. Single malt scotches include Macallan’s 12-year-old variety ($9.95) and the standard Glenmorangie ($7.95). On the entertainment front, there’s live jazz on Thursday and Saturday afternoons. As for lunch, expect something along the lines of Guinness steak-and-kidney pie or Cajun linguine.
