Bar Wellington

Tucked away on a quiet stretch of Wellington near the fashion district, this pub is worth seeking out. It’s as much café and candlelit bistro as neighbourhood tavern—ideal for coffee fiends, martini sippers and beer swiggers alike. The decor is elegant (exposed brick, old-fashioned light fixtures, dark wood furniture and a vintage tin ceiling), but the atmosphere is laid-back (the game is broadcast on muted TVs). There are 11 draft beers, a list of 13 martinis and a selection of frothy coffees. The menu marries typical pub fare with exotic twists: Not So Classic chicken wings come in curry, Thai or barbecue flavours, and crispy french fries accompany the juicy 16-ounce Wellington burger.
