This Yonge Street bar has seemingly been around forever but has found a new lease on life as one of the city’s leading beer destinations. The decor hasn’t changed much over the years—Italian kitsch combined with brewery bric-a-brac—but people don’t come for the ambience. The stellar beer selection includes 13 regularly rotated taps and a couple of hand-pumped, cask-conditioned ales. Prices are reasonable ($6.50 for a pint of Denison’s Weissbier), and there are usually some exclusive imports. Favourites of the mostly male crew include selections from the little known (but very good) Quebec brewery Dieu du Ciel. A terrific streetside patio seals the deal in summer.
