Seemingly around forever, this Yonge Street bar has found a new lease on life as one of the city’s leading beer destinations. The decor hasn’t changed much over the years—Italian kitsch combined with brewery bric-a-brac—but people don’t come for the ambience. The stellar beer selection includes a dozen regularly rotated taps and a couple of hand-pumped, cask-conditioned ales. Prices are reasonable ($6.50 for a pint of Denison’s Weissbier) and there are usually some exclusive imports. Favourites of the mostly male crew include such cult hits as the 10 per cent Hair of the Dog Adam (a whopping $11 per bottle). A terrific streetside patio seals the deal in summer. Closes at 2 a.m. Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday.
