It’s the title of a Canadian novel, the subsequent film and two albums by the Rheostatics. Well, it just so happens that Whale Music is also the title of filmmaker Anthony Minghella’s first play, a story about a bunch of friends who bond over the unplanned pregnancy of one of their members. And one of Toronto’s newest theatre companies, Seventh Stage, has chosen it as its inaugural production, mounted by an all-female cast and crew that includes director Rosemary Dunsmore, as well as actors Rosa Laborde and Melissa-Jane Shaw. Previews from April 26; PWYC.—Stéphanie Verge
