Brooklyn-based Edward Albee protégé Will Eno’s much laurelled one-man play is filled with leading questions. “When did your childhood end? How badly did you get hurt…when you were this wee, little, hurtable thing, nothing but big eyes, a heart, a few hundred words?” Although the man who voices them, the eponymous Pain (Tom McCamus), is a born loser, Eno makes us care about his relentlessly whining anti-hero. Jennifer Tarver directs. In previews from Nov. 7. Previews $18. —Alec Scott
