Inspired by the childhood journals and e-mails of deceased American activist Rachel Corrie—who was just 23 when she was killed while attempting to stop the demolition of a Palestinian home—this play has (unsurprisingly) been dogged by controversy. First produced in London three years ago by British thesp Alan Rickman, it has since been put on around the globe. Kate Lushington directs Bethany Jillard in the title role. Previews from May 29.—Stéphanie Verge
