The season opener for the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company weaves together the fable of The Ratcatcher—a variation on The Pied Piper—with the story of Jewish children sent out of Nazi-occupied Europe by their parents as part of a late 1930s operation dubbed the Kindertransport. Jumping from nine-year-old Eva’s pre-Holocaust life to her reality four decades later as she prepares to say goodbye to her own daughter, Diane Samuels’ play gives a voice to the 10,000 displaced souls who grew up in British foster homes. Christopher Newton directs Patricia Hamilton, Corrine Koslo and Nancy Beatty. Previews from Nov. 4.—Stéphanie Verge
