For its latest show, Theatre Columbus finds inspiration in Paul Klee’s quirky 1924 painting, Dance of the Red Skirts, which depicts scarlet-clad figures shimmying against a dark cityscape. The Swiss artist is a great fit for the company with a proclivity for thoughtful comedies that delve into the human condition. Co-founders Leah Cherniak (director) and Martha Ross (playwright) spearhead this collective creation performed by Maev Beaty, Greg Gale and Erin Shields. Previews from May 3.—Stéphanie Verge
