Featuring the best under-20 soccer players from across the globe, the world youth championship is second only to the World Cup itself in size and scope. This year, the 52-match tournament takes place at six Canadian venues, including Toronto. The matches include Canada vs. Chile, July 1; Portugal vs. New Zealand, July 2; Gambia vs. Mexico, July 2; New Zealand vs. Gambia, July 5; Mexico vs. Portugal, July 5; Chile vs. Austria, July 8; two rounds of 16 games, July 11 and 12; quarter-final, July 14; semi-final, July 19; the match for third place, July 22; and the final, July 22. — Brent Ledger
