Though only in action since 2007, this upstart indie duo had an instant fan base thanks to singer-guitarist Leisha Hailey’s role on the cable hit The L Word, and her past musical ventures with The Murmurs and Gush. Borrowing a moniker from a 2004 PJ Harvey album, she formed Uh Huh Her with session musician Camila Grey and quickly attracted the level of buzz you’d expect. Hailey’s star wattage is likely to increase with Common Reaction (2008), a sleek and sexy batch of synth-driven pop.—Jason Anderson
