Local multi-instrumentalist Owen Pallett recently announced that he would be retiring the Final Fantasy moniker under which he won the inaugural Polaris Music Prize back in 2006. Indeed, his latest album, Heartland—his first since the prizewinner He Poos Clouds—was released in January under his own name. Whatever you want to call its creator, the music retains a disarming sense of delicacy and wonder.—Jason Anderson
