Any chance to explore Iran’s rich musical traditions is a welcome one, and this special concert should prove plenty entrancing to neophytes and ardent admirers alike. A composer and musician who’s well established as an ostad (maestro) of Persian music, Hossein Alizadeh will display his mastery of the lute-like tar. Kayhan Kalhor, a Kurdish Iranian musician who’s collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma and the Kronos Quartet, will also be on hand to reveal the wonders of the kamanchech (spike fiddle) before an ensemble of veteran players.—Jason Anderson
