With hundreds of musical acts descending on dozens of venues, the newly redubbed live component of Canadian Music Week makes for one hell of a bender. Major draws for the 2010 edition include such first-division Can-rockers as Our Lady Peace and The Trews, plus critical darlings K-os, Joel Plaskett and the Constantines. It’s also a great chance to catch bands still on the rise; keep your ears open for Montreal art-pop trio Plants and Animals and the Rural Alberta Advantage, a Prairie-bred, Toronto-based indie act that’s recently been the recipient of much music-blog buzz.—Jason Anderson
