Two rising indie bands, The Acorn from Ottawa and Toronto’s Ohbijou, round out their North American tour with this show at Lee’s Palace. With Belle and Sebastian–like proportions and lush, complex pop in common, the tour mates also collaborated on a split EP. Unlike Canuck ancestors Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene, these bands are hitting a softer, more personal note; The Acorn’s latest album, Glory Hope Mountain (2007), explores the traumatic life of front man Rolf Klausener’s mother. The homecoming promises fans an intimate show with plenty of sonic mingling between bands.—Laura Trethewey
