An Evening With David Sedaris

Crafting comic gold from the slightest of autobiographical details, David Sedaris has become the dean of The New Yorker–style humorists—a sort of James Thurber for the 2000s. His readings are big-time celebrity fawn-ins—which can rarely be said of literary events. (He’s even read on Letterman.) His latest work, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, includes pieces on smoking and coupledom, and will doubtless get a good workout as the best-selling author reads, signs books and answers questions from the audience.—Brent Ledger
