Toronto All - Star Big Band

Made up of gifted young musicians from area high-schools, colleges and universities, this swing-style band has backed some important jazz talents, most notably Buddy DeFranco and Clark Terry. Here they present They’re Playing Our Song, one in a series of performances devoted to dance hits hailing from the 1930s and ’40s. This show features a tribute to Benny Goodman, with Ernesto Cervini playing clarinet and acting as guest director. Cervini, now a distinguished drummer, has a storied relationship with the band, having started out with it at the age of 12.—Stuart Broomer
