Flutist Jamie Baum is a master of chamber jazz textures, deftly exploring complex harmonic designs on her regular and alto flutes and employing subtle voicings in the works that she’s composed for her New York septet. She’s also an improviser of note, matching wits on her four CDs with such distinguished colleagues as trumpeters Dave Douglas and Randy Brecker and pianist Kenny Werner. She’s appearing here with some Rex regulars: trumpeter David Smith, pianist David Braid, bassist Jim Vivian and drummer Ted Warren, Nov. 20 and 21. Also featured: Harley Card Quintet, Nov. 1; Nancy Walker Quartet, Nov. 2; Hilario Durán Trio, Nov. 12; Cory Weeds Quartet, Nov. 13 and 14; Frank Tiberi Quintet, Nov. 15; P. J. Perry with Kevin Dean, Nov. 16; Rob McConnell Tentet, Nov. 26 to 28; and Ernesto Cervini Quartet with Joel Frahm, Nov. 29.—Stuart Broomer
