Drummer Aubrey Dayle is a master at fusing world, funk and blues grooves, having collaborated with some great jazz guitarists, including James “Blood” Ulmer and Ernest Ranglin. Dayle’s group, My Id, is a traditional jam band, combining soul grooves with extended improvisation. It includes saxophonist Michael Stuart, bassist Rich Brown, keyboardist Robi Botos and, on special occasions, Vernon Reid, the adventurous guitarist who used to lead Living Colour and who regularly jumps from free jazz to hip hop. Reid is appearing here for the release of My Id’s second CD, a live performance from College Street’s Revival that also features the guitarist.—Stuart Broomer
