Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes

The husband-and-wife team of Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes plays two pianos, four hands at the Glenn Gould this month. Charlap, the son of Broadway composer Moose Charlap and singer Sandy Stewart, is a lyrical master of the great American songbook who worked with Tony Bennett and Gerry Mulligan early in his career. Four-time Juno winner Rosnes is a more modern player, with a polyrhythmic, post-bop style rooted in modal jazz. Together, they create a tapestry rich in harmonic and melodic invention that is true to both their styles.—Stuart Broomer
