Toronto Comic Arts Festival

Local lights Seth (Palookaville) and Chester Brown (Louis Riel) are among the more than 100 cartoonists, graphic novelists and comic book experts appearing at the third edition of this annual celebration of sequential art. Other highlights include British manga authority Paul Gravett (Manga: 60 Years of Japanese Culture) and Bryan Lee O'Malley, whose Scott Pilgrim is being adapted for the big screen by Shaun of the Dead's Edgar Wright. Panels and workshops on effective storytelling and the growing field of webcomics, as well as an Owl-sponsored children's tent, round out the weekend. Friday's opening night party at Innis Town Hall kicks things off.—Jason McBride
