The much younger sibling of the much more famous Montreal yuk riot, Toronto’s summertime snicker-fest may soon have the last laugh, what with the envelope-pushing, Matt Damon–loving Sarah Silverman and the very English Pythonite John Cleese both hosting galas. Scottish star Danny Bhoy and top-selling American teen Bo Burnham do one-man shows; other jokesters are huddled together in lineups dedicated to Ethnic Heroes, French Comedy Bastards, Sketch and Homegrown Comics.—Brent Ledger
