Fashion Has No Borders’ first annual showcase—coincidentally held just before Caribana—will feature collections by both budding and veteran Caribbean designers, including Toronto-based Kestin Cornwall of Elliptic Clothing, known for pop-artsy streetwear, and New York–based Francis Hendy, who’s designed outfits for P. Diddy, Aerosmith and actor Terrence Howard. An on-site boutique lets guests purchase pieces from their favourite designer. Fashion Television’s Jeanne Beker hosts this televised event, alongside fellow Canada’s Next Top Model judge model Yasmin Warsame. Proceeds from the evening go to SickKids Foundation and Watoto, a church-based organization helping children in Uganda.—Mimi Szeto
