Wen Wei Wang’s stunning Cock-pit, which premiered in Vancouver in 2009, is a visual triumph. Inspired by his days at an all-boys boarding school in China, the piece involves a young man’s dreams of absent female figures. Sexual awakening is the dominant theme, as evidenced by the dancers’ limbs being extended by four-foot-long pheasant feathers.—Paula Citron
