Susanna Hood

Motivated by the violent canvases of British painter Francis Bacon (all those bleeding carcasses!), Susanna Hood’s triptych Shudder moulds three dancers—Hood herself, Alanna Kraaijeveld and Dan Wild—into twisted shapes depicting a family unit in decay. The grotesque and volatile choreography, set to an explosive Nilan Perera score, swings between abstract imagery and linear narrative.—Paula Citron
