One of the great choreographers of contemporary bharatanatyam, Lata Pada has created the multidisciplinary Shunya (which means zero in Sanskrit), an edgy piece that explores the concept of that number within the cultures of three giants—India, China and the Middle East. B² is a world premiere from England’s avant-garde Mavin Khoo, who compares and contrasts ballet and bharatanatyam technique in this groundbreaking work, performed by Sampradaya and Ballet Jörgen Canada.—Paula Citron
