Kalanidhi Fine Arts

Along with symposia and workshops, three performances complete Kalanidhi’s spring festival of Indian dance. India’s maverick Daksha Sheth Dance Company presents Sarpagati—The Way of the Serpent. Sheth uses martial arts, aerial dance, yoga and gymnastics with her training in kathak to pay tribute to the snake, a powerful symbol in Indian culture. March 12 and 13. $20–$35. Fleck Dance Theatre. The remaining concerts feature the best of the home team. Canadian Kathak Performers showcases the talents of Toronto’s Bageshree Vase and Montreal’s Sudeshna Maulik, both appearing with live musicians. March 20 and 21. Canadian Bharatanatyam Performers, meanwhile, features Anusha Fernando of Vancouver, Prabha Raghavan of Mississauga, and Neena Jayarajan and Sajilal Narayanan, of Toronto. March 27 and 28. $20.
