Illustrious choreographer and composer Lizt Alfonso and her 15-year-old Danza Cuba make their first Toronto trip to take part in the Luminato festival. Havana’s most popular contemporary company, Alfonso’s 25-member all-female troupe fuses Spanish and Afro-Cuban dance with ballet and jazz, and are joined by some of their country’s most famous singers and musicians. The group’s featured work, Vida!, follows a woman revisiting past experiences as seen through Cuba’s turbulent history.—Paula Citron
