Coba, Collective of Black Artists

The ambitious Diasporic Dimensions features three premieres by co–artistic director BaKari E. Lindsay, company member Julia Morris and guest choreographer Jeanguy Saintus. The Jamaican-born Morris’s piece is about Nyabingi, the music that has evolved out of the Rastafari religion; Saintus’s international reputation is anchored in a unique style that combines folklore, modern, contemporary and neo-classical dance overlaid with traditional Haitian rhythms.—Paula Citron
