Famously dismissed as a “shabby little shocker” by highbrow American critic Joseph Kerman, Puccini’s Tosca, with its potent brew of nail-biting melodrama, melodic inspiration and masterful orchestration, grabs audiences from the first powerful chords and never lets go. Sopranos Adrianne Pieczonka and Julie Makerov alternate in the title role.
