German-born violinist Christian Tetzlaff is the soloist in a new dance-based work by Englishman Mark-Anthony Turnage, currently composer-in-residence with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Mambo, Blues and Tarantella was jointly commissioned by the TSO and the London and Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestras, and this performance marks its North American premiere. Also on the program, conducted by Peter Oundjian, are Vaughan Williams’ Symphony no. 5 in D Major and Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from his opera Peter Grimes. Nov. 12 and 15.—Rick MacMillan
