Young Japanese-born Canadian violinist Karen Gomyo brings her 1703 Stradivarius along for a pair of performances of Felix Mendelssohn’s popular Violin Concerto in E Minor under guest conductor Kwamé Ryan (in his TSO debut). Originally from Trinidad and Tobago and currently in his first season as music director of the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine in France, Ryan also conducts the orchestra in readings of Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Grieg’s Holberg Suite.—Rick MacMillan
