This program of 16th- and 17th-century vocal and instrumental Christmas music from Spain and Latin America brings together repertoire that is by turns haunting, boisterous and soulful. Included are villancicos, ensaladas, xácaras and romances by Spaniards Mateo Flecha and Francisco Guerrero, and Mexican baroque figures Geronimo Gonzales and Juan de Padilla. Consort musicians and singers include Michele De Boer, David Fallis, Ben Grossman, Katherine Hill, Paul Jenkins, Terry McKenna, Alison Melville, John Pepper and Laura Pudwell.—Rick MacMillan
