The celebrated British cellist, who is this year’s Lorand Fenyves Resident Artist at U of T’s faculty of music, appears with pianist Connie Shih, playing Benjamin Britten’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, op. 65; Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, op. 143; Felix Mendelssohn’s Variations concertantes, op. 17; Robert Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro, op. 70; and Isserlis’ own arrangement of Schumann’s Violin Sonata no. 3 in A Minor, WoO 27. He performs on the Feuermann Stradivarius of 1730, on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.—Rick MacMillan
