Rarely heard in these parts, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra is Asia’s oldest. Long Yu presides over this performance, part of an 11-city North American tour marking the SSO’s 130th anniversary. Pieces include the prelude to Modest Mussorgsky’s opera Khovanshchina, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no. 2 in C Minor, op. 18 (with soloist Yuja Wang), and Qigang Chen’s Iris dévoilée.—Rick MacMillan
